Lucapa Diamond Company Limited
(ASX:LOM) says it has recovered a 74.5 carat diamond from its Lulo Diamond Project in Angola.
The discovery was among 14 new ‘specials’ recovered from Mining block 8 and has been confirmed as a Type 11a D-colour stone.
There have been 71 of these high class diamonds with an average weight of 23.9 carats discovered at the field since operations began in January.
Diamonds sold to date have achieved and average selling price of $4,500 per carat.
Lucapa plans to continue its expansion of the field and says the adjoining field is a high-priority focus of its exploration program as a potential source of the large special diamonds.
Lucapa reported a net loss of $2.26 million for the 2015 financial year.
