Shark Mitigation Systems Ltd (ASX:SM8) has been awarded a contract to protect the world’s best surfers at the J-Bay Open in South Africa next month.
The Australian company will deploy its Clever Buoy shark detection system at the upcoming global surfing competition from 6 to 17 July 2016.
In 2015, the J-Bay Open was the event where Australian surfing champion, Mick Fanning, survived a close encounter with a white pointer shark.
The company says that this is the first time its Clever Buoy technology will be deployed on an international stage.
