Iron ore miner Murchison Metals Ltd (ASX:MMX) says a total of 411,389 tonnes of ore was mined from the Jack Hills Project in the December quarter, down on the 518,473 tonnes mined in the September quarter.
Murchison holds a 50% interest in Crosslands Resources who owns the Jack Hills Project.
Nine shipments carrying a record 499,328 tonnes of ore were shipped in the December quarter, with Murchison saying the total tonnes shipped now exceeds four million tonnes since shipping began in February 2007.
The company says the seaborne iron ore market continued to recover during the quarter, driven by a year-end surge in Chinese iron ore imports.
The Jack Hills Project is targeting 25 to 35 million tonnes per annum.
Murchison Metals posted a profit for fiscal 2009.
