Whitehaven board farewells founding member

Whitehaven Coal Limited’s (ASX:WHC) has announced the resignation of Hans Mende from the Whitehaven board of directors. Mr Mende was a founding director of the company.

Whitehaven is in the midst of a takeover bid for Coalworks Limited (ASX:CWK) and recently increased its bid to $145.6 million.

Whitehaven earned a 17 per cent share in Coalworks through the takeover of Nathan Tinkler's Aston Resources and his private vehicle, Boardwalk Resources, which also owned a stake in Coalworks.

In the first half of the 2012 financial year Whitehaven Coal reported a net profit of $19.9 million.
